Results of Daytime Arietids/ζ-Perseids

17 February 2021

Since Daytime Arietids and ζ-Perseids show ctivities in the same period, it is difficult to separate them. In this research, therefore, try to estimate two compornents. Their activities show the strongest activity level in all daytime meteor showers.

Results of Daytime Arietids/ζ-Perseids every year

Year Source Result
2020 WorldWide Higher activity level around λ=84°-88° and around λ=75°
2019 WorldWide Activity level was as same as annual year.
2018 WorldWide Although esitmated profile was same as annual, λ=79°-81° was stronger.
2017 WorldWide Activity level was as same as annual year.
2016 – (not enough data in the world)
2015 WorldWide Estimated peak time and activity level were same profile as annual year.
2014 WorldWide Stronger activity. The peak time was same as annual year.
2013 WorldWide Activity Level around λ=79° was weaker than annual.
2012 WorldWide Activity Level was stronger than annual year.
2011 WorldWide The weaker activity than annual year.
2010 WorldWide Activity level was as same as annual year.
2009 WorldWide Strong activity. The clear activity was long time (λ=76°-86°).
2008 WorldWide Activity level was as same as annual year. (similar activity profile as 2006)
2007 WorldWide The clear activity between λ=78° and 84°.
2006 WorldWide Activity level was as same as annual year. Around λ=84°.0, was weak.
2005
2004
2003
2002 Misato Two peaks were observed on 9th and 18th in June.
2001 Misato Peak was observed around 9th June. Another peak in PM was observed.
2000 Misato Peak was around 9th June. This clear activity was end of 16th.

Discussion of separating between Daytime Arietids and ζ-Perseids

The following graph shows the separation of Long term activity profile(2006-2020). One is Comp-A(Orange-line). Another is Comp-B(Blue-line). Lotentz(red-line) is total activity profile (Comp-A + Comp-B).

icon Disucussion Points
The discussion point is “What does two compornents mean ?". IMO publications says that they have similar maximum peak times and radiant points. It is difficult to separate these compornents.
In this project, provisionally, Comp-A using Arietids parmeters is as Daytime Arietids (171 ARI) and Comp-B using ζ Perseids parameters is Daytime ζ-Perseids (172 ZPE). However, we need to discuss about “What does two compornents mean ?".
